My grandmother was one of those people with a huge jar of stray buttons that had fallen of pieces of clothing or that she'd simply found over the years.

Sometimes we'd use them to play games, or she'd make ragdolls for me with button eyes and a button nose. Every now and then one of them would actually serve its normal purpose on a shirt or jacket.

To me those buttons were tiny treasures. I still keep that same jar in my home as a reminder of my grandmother's love.
