In the fourth book from The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy series by science fiction writer Douglas Adams, dolphins leave a message for human beings before they leave planet earth, which is going to be destroyed to make way for an intergalactic highway -"Goodbye and thanks for all the fish."

It was Adams' clever way of saying that those underwater mammals might be even more intelligent than you and me.
