When I was just a kid, my family moved out of the suburbs and into the country. At first I was bored without friends, playgrounds and baseball diamonds nearby. But I soon found there were incredible adventures to be had.

Not far from our home, across a field and on the other side of a small creek, there was a cluster of pine trees. It was in this small glen, this oasis of evergreen, that I discovered the marriage of nature and my imagination.

I built forts out of fallen branches, collected specimens of rocks, moss and interesting insects while spying on all the other wildlife.
