In William Shakespeare's romantic comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream," a sprite named Puck mixes up a magical elixir made of pansies. The legend is that this flower had been struck by cupid's arrows.

When placed on her eyelids, the potion causes Titania, Queen of the Fairies to fall in love with a donkey.

Following Shakespeare's recipe for love, scientists in London actually attempted to recreate this romantic concoction using a pansy called Heartsease. They named the perfume Puck's Potion.
