Still, Artist Christopher Jenkins is dedicated to observing the history and beauty of these great machines through his tireless work and meticulous paintings.
He begins by sketching his idea in pencil and then does the bulk of the painting with oils, often waiting many months for it to dry. The results prove that the process is well worth the trouble.
"Though obsolete by modern standards, the machines in my paintings were true triumphs of human ingenuity at the time they were built," he says.
