Waves of Japan

This elegant Asian inspired design portrays the ornamental Seigaiha pattern.

The exact meaning of the word Seigaiha translates to blue sea and wave. You can see how gentle waves inspired this elegant pattern. It was often printed on fabrics used for costumes in performances of Japan's oldest form of classical music.

Gagaku was played primarily at the Imperial court in Kyoto, Japan and made use of very specific instruments such as a small gong called the Shoko, a harp called the Kugo and a type of oboe known as the Hichiriki.
