The Harmony of Two

In Taoist philosophy, the concept of balance is represented by the yin yang symbol, the two halves of which are loosely interpreted to mean dark (yin) and light (yang).

In fact, the terms "yin" and "yang" are part of many old place names in China, like the cities of "Luoyang," and "Huayin," for example. The suffixes describe the side of the mountain where the locale exists. Thus, towns on the sunny side of a mountain end in the suffix "yang" while those on the shadowy side end in "yin."

For this unique check set, our artist incorporated both plain and stylized yin yang symbols with vivid, graphic depictions of dragon heads and the sun.
